MIND IN WEST CUMBRIA DONATION JULY 2018
Following on from a very successful concert by the much acclaimed London Swing Orchestra conducted by Graham Dalby, we were pleased to make a donation of £2000 to a charity which promotes better mental health in the area. From the proceeds we were also able to help other charities and local good causes in the Keswick district.
The Chairman - Brian Copeland - of the local Mind organisation gave a very interesting talk on how they operate. Help is available for families with children and young people, where the adults are experiencing mental health issues and adversity. They believe that a healthy body and good social links within the community do much to promote positive health and wellbeing. A variety of services are offered to support the local residents in the Allerdale and Copeland districts.
The LSO presented an evening of music from classic Jazz to Sinatra swing including Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Cole Porter, Louis Armstrong and of course Frank Sinatra. They have played at a number of Royal celebrations and venues such as the Barbican and the Royal Albert Hall with Pink Floyd's Roger Waters and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
A superb evenings entertainment by high class musicians for a charity which does not receive sufficient support.
