Wed, May 26th 2021 at 7:00 am - 8:30 pm

Donations to our fundraising event for Calvert Lakes top £33,000!!

With words of encouragement from Outdoor Survival expert, Bear Grylls ringing in their ears; Team Calvert Bear (Team CB) set off in rain and blustery conditions at 7am on Wednesday 26th May to complete their 5 Peak Challenge to raise vital funds for Calvert Lakes.

Their Challenge: Climb Dodd, Skiddaw and Latrigg, with a bike ride to Braithwaite, followed by an ascent of Grizedale Pike and Barf, before a canoe paddle across Bassenthwaite Lake back to the Calvert Lakes Centre.

Team CB, comprising of seven Rotarians, Bassenthwaite Sailing Club’s Commodore and led by Calvert Lakes’ fury mascot, Calvert Bear, rose to the challenge magnificently. 13.5 hours, 23 miles, 7,500ft of ascent and a strenuous paddle later, the Team arrived back at Calvert Lakes.

Since launching its Bounce Back Appeal in December 2020 Calvert Lakes has now raised over £730,000 towards it's 2020 shortfall of £1m. With its ethos of challenging disability through outdoor adventure, Calvert Lakes welcomes people of all ages with disabilities from across the UK.

Keswick Rotary Club are proud to have played our part in ensuring this amazing charity can continue to provide life changing experiences for people with disabilities. Donations have topped an incredible £33,000!
